Ava
The darkness that shrouded me when I opened my eyes wasn’t like the moonlit night I had been under — it still held a hint of silver in it, as if the moon was hiding somewhere.. Though it stretched on endlessly. I blinked for a moment, disoriented as I tried to sit up. I thought Lucas had said I couldn’t get really drunk anymore?
Did I have tequila? Tequila seemed like the kind of stuff that would still knock me flat.
Groaning, I could feel a wave of nausea wash over me. My mind still fuzzy, parts of the night began to come back to me. Muscled torso’s gleaming in the moonlight. The liberation of the wind brushing through my fur as I ran. The glimpse of what it felt like to belong somewhere.
And then I recalled the attacker — the feel of strong jaws shredding my flesh. Jolting at the intrusion of memories, my heart thundered in my chest as I grabbed at my sides and back, trying to figure out where the injuries were.
But there was nothing — nor was there any pain.
I forced myself to still, looking down at my hands as they trembled. I was in human form once again, donning a pair of tight leather pants. Puzzled, I couldn’t even recollect trying to shimmy myself in to them. Looking down, a crimson red corset met my vision and I blew out a small string of profanities. I didn’t own any clothes like this — where in the world had these even come from?
Slowly, as if any sudden movement would remind my body that it had been savaged by a crazy werewolf, I pushed myself to my feet, noting with an arched brow that a pair of leather boots wound up my calves as well. All I needed was a whip and I was set to star in a bondage porn film.
Tequila was definitely back on the table as an explanation to this.
I began to turn, looking in the room I found myself in. But there was nothing. No sense of walls or enclosures.. It was simply a vast stretch of darkness.
“Ava,” a feminine voice hummed, causing me to jerk before looking around wildly. “Do not be scared, my child,” the voice whispered again, and I could swear I felt a hand brush a lock of my hair. There was no one there.
“Who are you?” I was impressed at how steady my voice was, given I had never been more scared in my life even with her attempt to soothe my fear. Seeing that I had just been informed I was the shifter Alpha of a pack and then brutally attacked, I feel like that was saying something.
“Death’s keeper,” the soft voice replied, remaining mysterious and invisible.
A soft light appeared then — a glowing crimson as it grew. It stretched meld itself to metal iron, forming itself in to a gate door. Long fingers encased the latch of the gate and very slowly, a tall and willowy woman began to appear.
